Read what our dog rehabilitation house said about Bodhi
Currently with me on board and train and his owners have decided against taking him home, a truly sad situation but again they have another small dog in the home which is at risk.
Bodhi has been at house dog rehabilitation the past 2 weeks, he has lived and gotten on well with all 3 of my dogs from the Chihuahua to German Shepherd, he gets his confidence from them and so I feel he would be best suited to a home with another well balanced dog.
Bodhi has been neutral to dogs, children and people on walks however has a history of reactivity .
Here is what our in house rehabilitation trainer has to say about this handsome boy:
He is an incredibly anxious and stressy dog, in his time with me I've been working on desensitising him to all sorts of scenarios, building his confidence and teaching him to settle and be calm.
His coping mechanisms have improved and once he trusts you he's willing to try anything to please you.
He's very motivated by food and toys and therefore easy to train.
He's house trained, recently crate trained and can be left alone for a few hours.
I would not suggest he lives with small furries due to his prey drive, however I have been working on his LEAVE command and impulse control which has greatly improved. He has been exposed to livestock and farm animals with absolutely no reaction, so is workable.
He's had visitors in the home and also walked with strangers with no problems, however does not like being approached directly until he's more confident. Under control he will happily settle in public spaces.
Bodhi seriously needs someone willing to implement structure and boundaries, he is a dog that needs someone to tell him what to do, otherwise he will fret and make up his own mind which is never a positive outcome, with confident and calm leadership he is far happier.
He will need time to settle, however he will be incredibly willing to work with and takes to people very quickly.
I get a gift brought to me every morning alongside his happy squeals and a butt wiggle, he's never once so much as growled at me despite being thrown into the deep end with some stressful situations.
He's a truly active and playful dog so requires someone able to keep up with his physical needs, but equally needs to learn to chill so someone willing to continue his training is a must.
