We have no history of Rita’s background, but when found by one of our rescue partners in Romania, she was told that Rita had been left on a short chain for nearly a year after her owner died, and that was being fed by local villagers.
Rita is around 9 years old and is looking for a second chance of a loving forever home. She is currently in foster in Tadley, Hants. This is what her foster parents have told us about her:
*Rita is very loving, likes attention and cuddles. She whimpers a little when everyone goes to bed but then taker herself off to bed herself.
*Rita is keen to meet other dogs, however she tries to dominate with smaller dogs but is ok with larger ones. She doesn’t like her back end being sniffed – but then who does 😉
*Long walks are ideal as she is 9 going on 2. Rita has lots of energy and likes to run and have a good sniff around. She loves finding birds and squirrels and tends to try and chase them which can result in her pulling on the lead, apart from that she loves her walks!
*With cats, we believe once she has been around a cat, she would be fine, as she’s been left alone for a few minutes (after building up time with ours) and can tolerate them.
*Rita has learnt to relax in her new home and used to people quickly as is evidence of her wagging her little tail, when she sees us in the mornings, when we come home from work or shopping etc. She is still learning basic commands such as sit, wait, stay, but it is a work in progress.
*She has been left alone for several hours (the longest time with us) & was well behaved. No damage caused to any furniture or carpets and is very pleased to see us return.
All in all, Rita is a lovely girl.
