Benno the Love Bug  

Meet Benno, a 10-year-old terrier mix with a heart as big as his story. Originally rescued from Romania, this beautiful boy didn’t have the easiest start in life. Thankfully, he found safety, love, and a wonderful home where he flourished for many years. Sadly, he recently lost his beloved owner. Though he’s being wonderfully cared for in his foster home, Benno is now ready to find someone special to call his own.  

Benno adores people, but he needs a little time to make new friends. At first he can be a bit standoffish—he likes to watch, think, and gather his information before deciding you’re trustworthy. But once he’s comfortable, he’ll gladly lean in for a gentle scratch… and by the second meeting, expect kisses and perhaps a cosy lap snuggle. Everything is taken at Benno’s pace, and he rewards patience with pure love.  He would suit someone who is home most of the day—whether you work from home (he takes his supervisory role very seriously!), are retired, or can build up time left gently. 

At the moment, Benno manages around two hours alone, so long stretches wouldn’t be right for him.  Benno would love to share his home with another calm, friendly dog. He enjoys gentle play, relaxed strolls, and cuddling up on the sofa after a nice walk. He’s met a wide variety of dogs and has been brilliant with all shapes and sizes. Canine companionship really boosts his confidence. He could be an only dog in a home where someone is around most of the time and where he’d still have a circle of doggy friends to meet regularly—he really does adore other dogs.  

Benno hasn’t been tested with cats, so he’ll need a feline-free home. 

He could live with sensible children aged 12+ who understand when he needs quiet time. He would cope with younger visiting children as long as he has a safe, peaceful space to retreat to when he wishes.

  Benno is a true love bug. He longs to be a loyal companion, to curl up beside you on the sofa, and to enjoy life’s simple, gentle moments together. He has so much love to give, and he’s ready to share it with someone who will cherish him.  He would thrive in a quiet, calm household where he can relax, feel secure, and enjoy the company of a canine friend. He is a genuine gentleman and an absolute sweetheart.
