Meet Dinky

 Delightful Dinky Dog
Age: 3 years
Breed: Terrier mix

We know what you’re thinking—yes, he’s absolutely adorable! But Dinky is much more than just a cute face. This tenacious little terrier is full of personality and has a real knack for stealing hearts wherever he goes.

Dinky loves people and greets everyone with enthusiasm, enjoying a fuss before happily trotting off to continue his day. He’s a busy, energetic boy who will thrive in a fairly active home that can meet his needs.

After a day filled with walkies, playtime, and the usual terrier mischief, Dinky is happiest snuggled up on the sofa with you—he’s a lap dog through and through.

Training & Behaviour

Dinky does have a light chasing instinct, which will require ongoing management through enrichment, training, and play. He also travels best in a covered crate in the car—full support and guidance will be given to his adopter.

With other dogs, Dinky can be a little selective. Due to limited socialisation when he was younger, he tends to be more comfortable with smaller dogs, though he can be a bit overenthusiastic in play. Larger dogs may get an initial bark, but friendships can still be made! He could live alongside a tolerant smaller dog who’s willing to help teach him some canine manners—or he’d be equally content as an only dog, making friends out and about.

Medical Notes

Dinky has a grade 1 luxating kneecap. This doesn’t currently require veterinary intervention, but it does mean his exercise will sometimes need to be restricted. His adopter will need to continue the simple daily strengthening exercises provided by his physiotherapist, alongside offering plenty of mental stimulation and play on lower-activity days. Full support will be given to his new family.

Recommended ongoing care includes:

Physiotherapy every 3–6 months with either Kismet Holistic Canine Therapies or a local vet physio

Home adaptations such as runner rugs on slippy floors, limiting jumping (e.g., providing steps up to sofas), avoiding excessive ball throwing, and ensuring he’s warmed up with a short lead walk before any energetic activity

Dinky has shown a strong interest in cats and birds, so he’s best suited to a home without feline friends.

Thanks to his wonderful foster mum, Dinky already has a great training foundation in place—but being a clever boy, he’ll thrive with continued positive training in his new home.

Dinky is cheeky, fun, affectionate, and full of character. If you’re looking for an active yet cuddly companion who’ll bring endless joy (and a bit of terrier mischief!) into your life, Dinky is the boy for you.

✅Dinky can live with children aged 14 years and over

🏡Dinky is currently located in Basingstoke in foster with his foster family
